Ultrasound Analysis for Gear Box’s
Although ‘Vibration Analysis’ is the best tool for condition monitoring of Gear Box, it takes time to analyze the vibration spectrum/ time waveform but Ultrasound measurement can be the tool that gives immediate results. With ultrasound we can record the ultra-sound of healthy gear box with the readings of peak/rms/ crest factor, as base data and compare other gear boxes with it. The same base data can be used to compare readings taken periodically during monitoring.
Gearboxes can be inspected with ultrasound, but some recommendation should be followed for the best results. In order to minimize the signal lost for attenuation, do a mapping of the gearbox. Put your magnetic sensor close to the gear mesh and record the Dynamic signal for analysis.
